What is Compression Pump Therapy?
Compression Pump Therapy (Sequential Intermittent Pneumatic Compression) is a non-invasive therapy that uses specially designed garments (often sleeves or boots) connected to a controlled air pump. These garments gently inflate and deflate sequentially in cycles, simulating the pumping action of MLD that helps:
-
Improve blood circulation
-
Reduce inflammation
-
Encourage lymphatic drainage
-
Reduce swelling and fluid retention
-
Speed up post-surgical recovery (when used at the appropriate stage of healing)
-
Ease heaviness and discomfort in the limbs
This therapy is commonly used in hospital and rehabilitation settings but is now also available in my comfortable, private clinic setting.
Who Can Benefit from Compression Pump Therapy?
-
Lymphoedema (chronic swelling due to lymphatic dysfunction)
-
Lipoedema (painful fat disorder affecting the legs, hips, arms)
-
Post-cosmetic surgery at the appropriate stage of healing (tummy tuck, liposuction, body contouring, breast augmentation etc)
-
Poor circulation or venous insufficiency
-
Sedentary lifestyle or long periods of standing causing leg fatigue
-
Injury rehabilitation
-
Sports recovery
Many clients feel lighter, more mobile, and less swollen after just one session!
At Eden Valley Health, Pump Therapy is often used alongside MLD. If you wish to be left alone to relax during a treatment, I am happy to oblige and will leave you in peace and relaxation - once I've emptied the lymphatic nodes of course.
