Remedial @ Eden Valley Health
What is Remedial Massage & Sports Therapy?
Remedial massage at Eden Valley Health is much more than a massage. It is a thoroughly assessed, individualised approach to understanding why your body is experiencing pain, restriction or dysfunction — and then using targeted hands-on treatment to help restore better movement and function and reduced pain. The aim is to provide purposeful treatment that addresses the person in front of me — helping to reduce discomfort, improve movement and support your body towards better function.
Depending on your individual needs, treatment may incorporate a combination of myofascial release, soft tissue and deep tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, joint mobilisation, stretching, cupping and other specialist remedial techniques. Where appropriate, additional therapies such as photobiomodulation or therapeutic ultrasound may also be used to support recovery. Movement and range-of-motion assessments can be repeated after treatment so we can see how your body has responded and whether the treatment has achieved the change we were looking for. Your treatment plan can then be adapted as you progress.
The Eden Valley Way ...
Treatment designed around you. There is no generic treatment routine at Eden Valley Health. Every body is different, and every treatment is adapted according to what we find during your assessment and how your body responds.

Your First Visit...
Your first appointment begins with a detailed discussion about your symptoms, health history, lifestyle and what you want to achieve from treatment. This is followed by appropriate visual, postural, range-of-motion and orthopaedic assessments, allowing me to look at how your muscles and joints are working together. Sometimes the area causing you pain isn't actually the source of the problem — and this is where remedial therapy can make such a difference! Rather than simply treating the place that hurts, I look at the bigger picture and work towards identifying the contributing factors.
I don't have a generic to-do list that is ticked off for each appointment. Your health is YOUR health. No two bodies are the same. It is normal that you will need a course of treatment, but if this is the case, it will be fully explained to you and there is no obligation. A condition that has been causing issues for months or even years will not be resolved in one treatment!
Treatment
Depending on your treatment plan you may be introduced to a range of different techniques but after each appointment, we will revisit the range of motion assessments to make sure that what we’re doing is actually benefiting you, and you’re not paying unnecessarily.
Positive outcomes are achieved by using a range of techniques, including but not limited to, soft tissue manipulation, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myofascial release/stretching, METs, myofascial/static cupping, gua sha, joint mobilisation and passive/active stretching. I also use Photobiomodulation Therapy and therapeutic ultrasound to support soft tissue injuries, inflammation etc which speeds recovery.
